Over time, things like dust, debris, human hair, and pet hair collect in your ducts. As air circulates throughout your home, it's circulating through all of that, contributing to allergies or respiratory issues. In addition, here are a few examples of special circumstances that might make your ducts dirtier than other homes:
- Do you live next to a field or farm? If so, you are naturally susceptible to more dust than the average home.
- Have you had any type of remodeling done in your home? If so, there's likely drywall dust, wood dust, and more in those ducts as well.
- Is there construction going on in your neighborhood? Again, this can create more dust than average.
- Are you allergic to pet hair? There can be pet hair from years ago or previous owners in your ducts. Cleaning that out can certainly help with allergies.
How often do my ducts need cleaned?
It's recommended that ducts are cleaned every few years. If you are having some remodeling done in your home, it's recommended that the ductwork is cleaned after the remodeling is complete.
How long does it take?
This is going to depend on the size of your home. Generally, a great duct cleaning job will take between 4-8 hours. Our duct cleaning service includes using a negative air machine to put the system under a large vacuum. We use 175 lbs of air pressure to push the dust and debris to the negative air machine. We also clean, dry, and re-install all registers in the home.
How much does duct cleaning cost?
This will also depend on the size of your home. Pricing is based on the number of openings (i.e. registers) in your home. To get an accurate quote, we can make an appointment for a FREE sales call to come out and count your openings. There are options that we can discuss as well, including duct sanitizing and duct sealing.
